Caffeine Is Good For You !

Caffeine Good For Your Skin?

Are you a coffee addict ? Well there's good news for you, apparently it turns out caffeine may not be all bad after all. There is evidence emerging that it is in fact good for your skin, it is an antioxidant, can restrict blood vessels in your face and prevent flushing, it can repair sun damage and may also prevent cancer ! This all sounds a bit odd after years of being told it was bad for us - the full story is here http://health.yahoo.com/experts/skintype/11082/caffeine-good-for-your-skin/.

Godaddy Coupon Codes

Godaddy Coupon Codes for Price Reductions

Godaddy coupon codes - in case you don' t know, coupon codes or discount codes, are used to give you a discount on whatever it is you are buying, you just type in the code in the box on the invoice form and click 'recaculate' (or words to that effect) and hey presto you've just saved yourself 10 or 20%, all totally legal too !

The two I have found that seem to work the best are :

HASH3 and cjc695dom -

they give you a reduction of around 25% which is pretty good - there's no point using them both though as you only get one reduction - anyone got any more please leave a message.

Green.co.uk Up For Sale at $40,000

Green Domain Up For Auction

Green.co.uk is up for auction at Sedo.com.

The name is obviously a very 'trendy' one to have, but it was registered by a common or garden Mr Green back in 1999. The price has so far risen to $40,000 after 6 bids, although the reserve has not been met, there are just over 5 hours to go.

The actual website is just a parked page, which does not seem to get many visitors, so clearly the value is in the name and its potential for an environmentally-minded company or organisation. If you want to follow the auction or if you fancy putting in a bid (unfortunately I don't get any commission) have a look here : http://www.sedo.com/auction/auction_detail.php?language=us&auction_id=24063&tracked=&partnerid=

Top Domain Name Sales in 2007

Domain Sales 2007

As I wrote in my previous post Rise in Top Domain Name Prices - the prices paid for the top 100 domain names sold in 2007 rose by over 43% compared with 2006, with an average price of $426,825 in 2007 compared with $297,750 in 2006. It is also interesting to note that although .com is still by far the most sought after domain extension, there has in fact been a rise in the prices paid for, and the number of, other extensions sold.

The figures for 2007 show that 83 of the top 100 domain names sold were .com, compared with 87 out of 100 in 2006. All figures obtained from DNJournal

In 2007, surprisingly, the most popular extension in the top 100, after .com, was .mobi - with 5 sales, averaging $127k each, followed by .co.uk (4 sales at an average price of $224k) and .net (4 sales at an average price $216k)

In 2006 the most popular after .com were .net and .org with 3 sales each (averaging $241k and $118k respectively).

So far in 2008 there has only been one sale of over $100k - newlyweds.com, which has just sold for $130,000 at Moniker's T.R.A.F.F.I.C. East live auction.

Personally I expect to see more large non .com sales over 2008, provided the economy as a whole holds up, and a possible rise in the popularity of the .tv extension and we may even see a large .in sale or two.

43% Rise in Top Domain Name Prices

Domain Name Prices Rise by Over 43% in One Year

One way to make money online is by investing in domain names, see my previous post - Record Domain Name Prices . Having just had a close look at the top 100 domain name sales for 2007 compared to the top 100 for 2006, I have calculated that the total price paid for the top 100 domain names in 2007 was $42,682,500, this compares with a total for the 2006 top 100 of $29,750,000 (all figures from DNJournal.com with thanks).

This works out to an average price for 2007 of $426,825 per domain compared with $297,750 for 2006. Remember this is the top 100 we are talking about. This represents an increase of 43.3% in prices and this increase shows no sign of slowing any time soon.

Of course not everybody can afford to pay top prices for domain names, but most people can afford to start at the bottom and work their way up. You can buy domain names from $4 upwards, and sometimes even cheaper, which can then be 'parked' with companies like Namedrive to bring in some revenue from ads. For more information about parking domain names see my previous post - Record Domain Name Prices.

Record Domain Name Prices in 2007

Record Domain Name Prices in 2007

According to the figures provided by DNJournal Domains Sales Charts 2007 was a record year for domain name sales. For the first time every name in the Top 100 achieved a price of $100,000 or more. The last name to crack the $100k barrier before the end of the year was the conveniently named Gents.com when it sold for $100,444 through MissDomain.com.

The highest non dotcom was poker.de at no. 10 with $957,937 followed by job.at (austria) at no. 14 with $590,949. The first .co.uk was recycle.co.uk at no. 31 with $309,901 the first .net was realestate.net at no. 32 with $300,000. Significantly there were 5 .mobi in the top 100 list. The year also saw the first large .in sale with poker.in selling for $60,000.

In 2006 only 70 names achieved over $100k which means there has been a significant rise in just 1 year. There were also 9 sales of $1 million and over in 2007, compared to only 3 in 2006.

The first week of 2008 has seen the sale of Spicy.com for $81,000 by Moniker in a live auction. The next highest was Clap.com, sold by DigiPawn.com for $29,000 with ETH.com in 3rd position at $19,800.

So prices are going up. In a future post I will work out the average prices for 2006 and 2007.

If you don't have any domain names it's very easy to get them you just buy them ! You can register any name that you can make up, if it hasn't already been registered, for as little as $8. Once you've bought the name you can 'park' it while waiting to find a buyer, at a parking company where you get a share of the ad. revenue they obtain from the ads. they place on your domain. It's free and can bring in some money, but it's better to put in a little effort and try to come up with a good 'generic' name, such as shoes.com (it's already gone by the way) or go for different extension other than .com, such as .net, .in, .tv etc... for more information on parking check out NameDrive

Martina Hingis Banned for Two Years

Martina Hingis Banned for Two Years

Martina Hingis has been banned for 2 years today after testing positive for cocaine at the Wimbledon lawn tennis association championships in 2007.

The ITF said an independent anti-doping tribunal found Hingis had ‘committed an offence’. Hingis announced her retirement Nov. 1 when she also announced the positive test,

Hingis denies using cocaine, but according to the tribunal there were no doubts over her sample.

Hingis is a 5 time Grand Slam winner, her suspension is backdated to Oct. 1, although as she is retired how much affect will this have ?

The ITF disqualified Hingis' results from last year's Wimbledon and any subsequent tournaments she participated in. She also forfeits any ranking points gained and US$129,481 in prize money.

Hingis has denied ever using cocaine.

"I find this accusation so horrendous, so monstrous that I've decided to confront it head on by talking to the press," she said. "I am frustrated and angry. I believe that I am absolutely 100 per cent innocent."
